Common Drug Screen Results and Meaning

Negative

pH and/or gravity is out of normal range. The lab and/or the MRO confirmed that the substances being screened for are not being abused

pH and/or gravity is out of normal range. The MRO confirmed that the substances being screened tested positive and the donor did not have a valid prescription/medical reason for testing positive for that substance(s)

Can happen for various reasons:

1. Lost in Transit -

   1. Clinic shipped but lab never received

2. Cancelled per MRO(overly dilute, adulterants)

3. Client Request

4. GC/MS Interference

   1. Possible sign of adulterants being used by the donor.

   2. The lab was able to test the urine sample but due to chemical imbalances, unable to product an accurate diagnostic result

5. Specimen ID number mismatch/missing

   1. The same ID # will be on the CCF and Specimen Cup

   2. If lab receives and they don’t match or one of them is missing the ID #

Donor went into the clinic and left for an "unexcused" reason. The clinic will do all in their power to advise the donor that leaving will result in the test being closed as Donor Refused.

The Lab was unable to complete it's testing. Usually a foreign substance was detected and lab could not quantify what the substance was.

An incident on behalf of the vendor. This can be caused by various reasons:

1. Collector dropped specimen after donor left

2. Specimen was damaged in transit

3. Lab Techs dropped the Specimen
