What is it?
The Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Check will provide the applicant information as to whether or not they are listed in the Pennsylvania statewide database as a perpetrator of child abuse.
How does it work?
The applicant will be supplied with a payment code via email and will need to submit their personal identifying information through a secure application on the Child Welfare Portal website. The application will be processed by the ChildLine and Abuse Registry no later than 14 days from the receipt of the application.
Who needs this search?
Child Abuse Clearance is required in Pennsylvania in order to work and/or provide services to children. Companies who employ or oversee volunteers who work in this capacity will need the applicant to receive a certificate through a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Check.

Title, Pa. C.S. Chapter 63 (relating to the Child Protective Services Law) requires persons in involved in the following to obtain a Child Abuse Clearance from Child Welfare Information Solution (CWIS) in order to work and/or provide services to children:
