Fingerprints may be required for Illinois, Indiana, and Georgia Statewide searches. Below are the steps to complete this requirement.
Why is this needed?
For Indiana and Illinois, fingerprints may be requested when the State Police have identified more than one possible candidate utilizing the personal identifiers supplied. Without Fingerprints, a positive identification cannot be established. Fingerprints are required to proceed with the search, ensuring the correct identification has been obtained and the correct information is reported.
For Georgia, when running a Georgia Statewide search, the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) initially runs the search using the full Name, DOB, and SSN provided. All three are utilized and verified against the returned results. In some rare cases, a result will return with multiple State ID numbers (SIDs). In this instance, the GCIC will request fingerprints to determine if the SID on the record belongs to the applicant.
How will I be notified?
A member of the VF team will notify you or the applicant, depending on the instructions set, advising of the requirement to obtain the applicant’s fingerprints to proceed. The steps will vary by state, and depending on whether the applicant lives in-state or out-of-state.
Do I have to proceed with the Fingerprints?
No. If you decide not to pursue obtaining fingerprints, the order will be canceled.
The service fee will remain, and a note at the bottom of the results will indicate "Unable to
fulfill; fingerprints are required by the state to complete."
**If you would like to proceed with the fingerprints, please let us know, and we will wait for receipt of the prints.

Steps to complete the Illinois Fingerprint process:
Applicants (In-State)
Fingerprint transactions for in-state candidates must be submitted to the Illinois State Police
electronically through a licensed Livescan fingerprint vendor. Livescan is an inkless electronic system designed to capture an individual’s fingerprint images and demographic
data (name, sex, race, date of birth, etc.) in a digitized format that can be transmitted to
the Illinois State Police for processing.
Candidates can visit any local police station to undergo a Livescan fingerprint scan or visit a Livescan vendor (Fingerprint company).
A comprehensive list of known vendors that perform fingerprints can be found here.
You will need the ORI Number and Purpose Code:
- ORI Number: MS1211766
- The Purpose code is UCIA
Please refer to the fingerprint request document from the state police attached to the respective order for further information.
-
Livescan machines will assign a Transaction Control Number (TCN) for the fingerprints automatically, using the device identifier assigned to the machine.
- This number is required to verify submission with the Illinois State Police to ensure timely processing and will typically begin with ‘LS’ and is a total of 16 characters long.
- Please provide this number back to Verified First once it's assigned, as it is required to complete the order with the State Police.
If the Livescan vendor has any issues locating our Vendor Partner’s ORI number, please have them contact the IL State Police by phone (815) 740-5160 or email boi_customer_support@isp.state.il.us.
Fingerprinting agencies may require payment at the time of the fingerprinting process. This is not included as part of the search fee or access fee.
Applicants (Out-of-State)
The applicant will have to conduct a paper version of fingerprints instead of a Livescan. Fingerprints may be taken at any police station. They will need a fingerprint card with our Vendor Partner’s requestor details. You can request a fingerprint card online here.
When prompted, you will need the information below:
- Our Vendor Partner’s ORI Number: MS1211766
- Input our Vendor Partner’s information: “InformData”, as the requester's name, and the company name.
- The address needed is: 1701 Barrett Lakes Blvd, Ste 380, Kennesaw, GA 30144
Please note: if the applicant does not include the ORI number on the fingerprint card, the Illinois State Police will mail the results to the address listed on the fingerprints. In this instance, the applicant will be responsible for providing the results to Verified First to forward to our Vendor Partner.
The TCN number is required to verify submission with the Illinois State Police to ensure timely processing.
- It will typically begin with ‘LS’ and is a total of 16 characters long.
- Please provide this number back to Verified First once it's assigned, as it is required to complete the order with the State Police.
If you wish for us to proceed with fingerprints, please get the FRM and/or LS number from the candidate once fingerprints are conducted, and provide us with the number(s). This will help us ensure the order proceeds through the Illinois State Police.
Steps to complete the Georgia Fingerprint process:
Step 1: The applicant will need to complete their Fingerprints at their Local Sheriff’s Department and will need to request two “Blue and White SDI Application Cards”.
Step 2: The applicant will then need to mail the following information to the GCIC:
- Two fingerprint cards
- Copy of their state-issued photo ID (ie, driver’s license)
- Copy of their Social Security Card
- A money order in the amount of $10 made out to “GCIC.”
- A letter indicating why they are requesting the fingerprinting inspection
- State that a criminal history was done, and multiple state IDs came up under their information, so fingerprinting is the only way to determine the correct results
- Indicate why the initial search was run – ie, pre-employment screening when applying for a new job
-
Fingerprints need to be mailed to the following address:
- GCIC, Attention: Records Inspections
P.O. Box 370808
Decatur, GA 30037
What Happens Next?
Upon receipt and review by GCIC, the applicant will be sent a Certificate indicating that the State central repository has been searched for any criminal history records.
-
The applicant will need to provide VF with the Certificate and the Record (if there is a Record/Record box checked). Once this is done, a new search can be run.
- If it is found that the applicant’s fingerprints do not match the fingerprints on file for the arrest record, it will be indicated on the certificate. A copy of the record will also be attached to the certificate. At that time, the applicant will need to contact the arresting agency indicated on the cover letter, with further details sometimes indicated on the last page of the record as well. The applicant will need to provide the information that they received from GCIC so that they can update their records to remove the applicant’s personal information from the record. This is a step that the applicant must complete themselves.
Please Note: If the applicant does not complete the final step, the same result will be returned (i.e., indicating that fingerprinting is required), so the applicant must follow through with this step.
