Virginia Statewide Search

A State Criminal Records search for Virginia is unique because it requires each applicant to complete, sign and have form SP-167 notarized. Results have a lengthy turnaround time of 1-2 months. 

How does it work?

1. Verified First emails Form SP-167 to your candidate. *Your candidate’s SP-167 form must have a barcode. Forms sent to Verified First without barcodes will not be processed.
2. Complete Section 1. Your candidate should print out their form and take it to a local notary public to complete Section 1 only. *If Section 2 is also completed/notarized by your candidate, it will not be processed. Electronic notary stamps are not accepted by VA State at this time.
3. Mail the form to Verified First: Your candidate must send us the original form with the notary stamp and wet signature; emailed or non-original forms will not be accepted by the state. There is no need for a money order or check from your candidate with their form. Please have your candidate mail their original form to.

4. VF completes Section 2 and sends to VA State: Upon receipt of the SP-167 from your candidate, Verified First will complete Section 2, and mail it to the state with payment. From the receipt date of your candidate’s form, Verified First is typically able to send off the form within 24 hrs. *This timeline may be extended if the form is incorrect.
5. We patiently wait for results - turnaround time from VA state is typically 1-2 months. As soon as results are available, they will be updated on your candidate’s file.
