We’re excited to introduce the improvements we’ve been working on! This document outlines the key enhancements to Verified First’s background screen reports and related products. With a focus on improved readability, consistency, and functionality, these enhancements aim to provide a more comprehensive and user-friendly experience.
Report Enhancements
-
Exclusion of Social Security Address Trace Results: In an effort to further reduce risk associated with sensitive Personally Identifiable Information (PII), only necessary details from the Social Security Trace Results will be shown in the results section of the report.
- Results will be displayed with the following statuses:
- Complete: SSN has address history that matches the individual
- Complete - Review: SSN has address history that does not match the individual or indicates no address history was found.
- Issue Date and Location: The Social Security Address Trace will also show issue dates and location (if issued before 2011) or if there is a death record associated with it.
- Results will be displayed with the following statuses:
The full results of the Social Security Address Trace will be displayed in our portal. Client accounts will need to have the Display SSN Trace Results setting turned on by a Verified First user. To view the results, click on the Social Security Address Trace slice to expand.
See our Social Security Number Address Trace (SSN Trace Report) article for more information on this search.
Note: This search may not be used as the basis for an adverse action on an applicant.
- Executive Summary:
-
National Criminal Database Result: Results from the National Criminal Database will show as 'Complete' or 'Complete - Clear'.
- Clear Searches: Will be marked with a green 'Complete - Clear' status, immediately indicating no potential records were found.
- Searches with Potential Hits: Will continue to be marked with a black 'Complete' status and will include the standard note advising that jurisdictions may be added for further research.
Because the National Criminal Database product is a database, and not a live source, any confirmed matches will show in the relevant product and jurisdiction to ensure you get the most up-to-date information possible at the time of reporting.
-
File Tags: For clients who are setup to be shown ‘Search Tags’ on their files, they will now see the following changes:
- No more ‘Clear’ or ‘Review’
- When all searches are completed, a tag of ‘Complete’ will be shown
- If any searches were marked as ‘review’, a flag will appear next to ‘complete’ tag
- Summary of Rights: Now included on your report so it’s easy to provide to your candidates.
- Employment Verification Results: Discrepancies between applicant and employer information will be available in the verifications notes.
-
Formatting Enhancements:
- Color coding and product headings
- Enhanced organization of cases and charges. Case information is displayed first, followed by related charges.
- Applicant Personally Identifiable Information(PII) will appear at the top of the report only, rather than being repeated with each product. To confirm which name was searched (especially applicable if your file has aliases), look next to the product name.
- New York County Searches: Any county searches for a New York county will now be categorized under the 'State Criminal Search' on your report. This is due to the way an NYOCA search is performed. Clients will still be charged the county criminal fee.
