Screening for Safety-Sensitive Roles
Verified First’s FMCSA DOT Employment Verification is a specialized solution designed for employers hiring safety-sensitive positions regulated by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
Key Components of our DOT Verification
Employment Verification: We confirm the candidate's professional foundation—including dates of employment, job title, and rehire eligibility—as available via the source of record.- Accident History & Safety Performance (49 CFR §391.23): We go beyond standard HR checks to target the data that matters most for DOT compliance:
- Direct Safety Department Contact: We proactively contact the previous employer's Safety Department—not just HR—to retrieve specific, safety-related performance data.
- Standardized Documentation: We utilize strict, written documentation to confirm accident history (or the lack thereof), providing the high-level accuracy required for your files.
- FMCSA Clearinghouse: To fulfill the final pillar of DOT requirements, we offer the FMCSA Clearinghouse Query product should you elect to designate Verified First as your TPA.
Customization & Flexibility
We understand that internal protocols vary. Verified First offers the flexibility to customize your DOT package to fit your specific requirements.
How It Works
Once an order is placed, our specialized team initiates a multi-channel outreach strategy. We don't just wait for a return call; we actively pursue the "Source of Record" through a combination of phone, email, 3rd party databases, and/or fax over a five-business-day period.
Mandatory Documentation: To ensure a compliant report, we require the DOT History Form to be signed by the candidate and completed by the Verifier. This form acts as the formal record for your Driver Qualification file.
