Personal references provide valuable insight into a candidate's character and reliability. Our specialized team conducts direct interviews with listed references to help you evaluate a candidate’s fit for your organization.
Process & Outreach
To ensure high response rates while maintaining a fast turnaround, our team follows a five-business-day outreach strategy. This includes:
- Multi-Channel Contact: Attempts are made via phone, email, and/or text, depending on the contact information provided.
- Daily Persistence: Our team makes consistent attempts to reach each personal reference over the five-day period.
The following questions are asked:
- How do you know him/her?
- How long have you known him/her?
- Is he/she a dependable and punctual person?
- Describe his/her interpersonal skills (ability to get along with others/communicate).
- What would you say are his/her weaknesses?
- What would you say are his/her top strengths?
- Does the applicant have any special skills, abilities, or training?
- Do you know anything about the applicant's work habits or history?
- What can you tell me about the applicant in terms of character?
- Is there anything else you can tell me about the applicant that would apply?
Scope of Report
The final report provides a snapshot of the reference’s feedback regarding the candidate’s history and character as available from the source.
How to Improve Efficiency
To help Verified First complete these checks as quickly as possible, we recommend:
- Accurate Data: Ensure the candidate provides up-to-date and valid email addresses and phone numbers for all references.
- Applicant Notification: Encourage applicants to notify their references in advance that Verified First will be reaching out. This significantly increases the likelihood of a first-call response.
