How to Access the Developer Console for Your Browser

When you encounter an issue, our client services agents might ask you (or have you ask your candidate) to send us a recording or screenshot of your browser's developer console. Here is how to find it on most modern browsers.

Chrome

• To open the console in Chrome, use the keyboard shortcut: Cmd + Option + J (on a Mac) or CTRL + Shift + J (on Windows).
• Alternatively, you can right-click on the webpage and click Inspect:

And the developer tools will be shown:

Click the console tab in order to see the errors on that page:

Resume using the portal to take the action(s) that were causing you issues previously and then take a screenshot of the console log that is shown to you.

Firefox

• To open the console in Firefox, use the keyboard shortcut: Cmd + Option + J (on a Mac) or CTRL + Shift + J (on Windows).
• Alternatively, you can right-click on the webpage and click Inspect Element:

And the developer tools will be shown:

Click on the Console tab, if not already selected.

Resume using the portal to take the action(s) that were causing you issues previously and then take a screenshot of the console log that is shown to you.

Safari

To open the console in Safari, you must first enable the Develop menu in the Mac menu bar.

To do this, go to Safari in the Mac menu bar at the top of your screen and then select Preferences.

Next, click on the Advanced tab (if not already selected) and then check the "Show Develop menu in menu bar" checkbox:

• To open the console you can then use the keyboard shortcut: Cmd + Option + C.
• Alternatively, you can right-click on the webpage and click Inspect Element:

And the developer tools will be shown:

Click on the Console tab, if not already selected.

Resume using the portal to take the action(s) that were causing you issues previously and then take a screenshot of the console log that is shown to you.
